Economic Desert Dream – TRANSCRIPT August 7, 2024
I had a dream where I was standing on the shore of an ocean. I don’t know if it was the Atlantic or Pacific, but it doesn’t matter. Way, way, way out in the ocean, I saw a billboard, like 50 feet above the water. In the dream, I started to walk into the water, and the water started to recede. It kept going further and further out from me. The further I went, the more I realized that I was actually descending, going down, down, down. I got to a place where I saw a sign that said, “2,000 feet below sea level.” The ground was dry, even though it should have been muddy. I kept walking down and down. Finally, when I got to the very bottom, I looked up at the billboard, which seemed like it was 100 feet above me, and the billboard said, “Economic Desert.”
I reached down to the ground to pick up what looked like mud. When I did, it was dry. I picked it up in my hand, and as I opened my hand, the dried mud turned into sand and the wind blew it away. I turned around to walk back out of what I guess was this ocean bed. In a vision within the dream, I saw a busy street with cars driving back and forth. Then it changed. I saw cars parked on the side and a few people walking, with trash thrown all over the place. “2,000 feet below sea level” was what it said.
I saw people walking with brown paper grocery bags from the 70s and 80s, carrying two or three bags each. They were walking back and forth, taking them up into their homes and apartments. Then, it seemed like a day or two passed. I saw people walking with one bag instead of two or three, and then I saw people with no bags. I saw people going up to ATMs and trying to get money out, but nothing was being dispensed.
One scene stood out: a guy in a checkout line with a big line of people behind him. The scanner wasn’t working, and there was a sign that said, “Cash Only.” The guy opened his wallet, and it was empty. He looked at his wallet, began to cry, and just walked out. At that moment, I saw the sign again that said, “Economic Desert.”
