On the 13th of April, 2029, Earth will have a dramatic close encounter with Apophis. The 1,120-foot-wide (340-meter) object will pass close to Earth at approximately 19,000 miles (31,000 kilometers), bringing it closer to Earth than most geostationary communication satellites.
